Hello, My name is Cynthia Broadhead. I am the daughter of Captain Edward W. Behm who was the CO from April 1963 to April 1965.
My father at 95 passed away on March 25, 2018, I live in Orange County and could come to one of your events.
Please keep me informed. Thank you.
Stephen, you have to call the Handlery Hotel and reserve a room for the dates that you will be at the reunion.
Call 800-676-6567 and mention you want the USS Agerholm Reunion Rate, and tell them the dates you are staying there.
I am disappointed to see that Captain Francis Taylor’s account of Typhoon Joan has been removed from the site. For those of us that were onboard Aggie during that ride it was as close to going to the bottom the ship ever had just prior to her sinking.
Terrifying to say the least.
I was in the US Navy from May 1968 to Aug 1998 and have never had a more terrifying experience in or out of the US Navy.
If I missed that page please show me.
Dear Joe My name Stephen Dawber I was on the USS Agerholm from 75 to 77. I was at the reunion in Branson, Mo. last year. I am looking forward to see old shipmates. please send me any information on rent car services for the best price. I will be flying in on the 3rd of Oct. I hope you can help me. Please mail me any information to Stephen Dawber 18993 Hwy 28, Dixon Mo. 65459. Thank you Stephen Dawber
Stephen, I rent cars through Costco. Go to this link https://www.costcotravel.com/Rental-Cars/h=3002 and you can see the cars and prices that are available. If you don’t belong to Costco, there are auto rental booths at the airport where you can rent a car. Rather than renting a car, I would recommend that you take Uber or Lyft from the airport to the hotel and then use SD light rail to travel around the SD area.
Hi my name is Laci Wilkins.
My father Wayne Wilkins served on the USS Agerholm DD 826 from 1965 to 1971.
He passed away in December 2009.
My question ( Is the reunion just for the Veterans or can a family member attend in honor of my father?
Thank you so much and most of all thank you for your service.
During the FRAM conversion the CO was a LCDR Robert Pond. We had very few Officers associated with the Agerholm until right before the completion of the conversion. I was one of the Radiomen but we had no Radio Central.

My uncle and plaque owner Samuel Loy Wagoner, S2c of Springfield, West Virginia passed away 16 June 2016. He is on one of the Aderholm 1947 crew members photos of the mess cooks (it appears).
My dad was a Plank owner on the USS Agerholm. Henry W. Jones. He passed away May 19th 2016. He was 88 yrs old. I would love to see any pictures or correspond with people that have relatives that were on the ship.
I regret to inform you, my father’s shipmates, that my Father and your shipmate 1960-1965 BTCM John A Ashman, passed away at his home in Mena Arkansas on August 9, 2015.
He always related sea stories of his time aboard the Agerholm with enthusiasm and joy. He became lifelong friends with a few of his shipmates, one becoming my uncle.
As a Fellow Sailor and son of your shipmate, our family thanks all of you for your service and sea time with our Father.

Kevin Morris (pee wee) I was on the Agerholm in 69 to 71 , dose anyone member going up the river during our west pack in Vietnam, sure could use some help on my VA claim my email is kevin21852@gmail.com thanks feel free to just say hello it always good to here from someone that was there with me who can relate to our experiences.
I was an RD2 on Agerholm 1970/1971. We did go into the Mekong Delta several times on NGFS missions. We also moored port side to in Da Nang S Vietnam during the time you were aboard. The CIC logs in my own hand would confirm your requested data. Could also have been enetered by David Mills during that time.
Also the deck logs from the bridge would confiem your data request and the VA has a duty to examine these documents on your behalf.
I retird from the USN in 1998 and went to work as a Veterans Representative and learned how toget VA to follow their own rules.
The Combat Naval Gunfire Support records (CONGA) from the National Archives for the 1970 NGFS missions are available on the Agerholm website in Photo Gallery. The Deck Logs, also from the National Archives, showing the ship’s actual firing location (latitude/longitude) and target are available on the Agerholm website at https://ussagerholm.org/agerholm/1970-vietnam-gunfire-support-ships-logs/
The deck logs for the 1970 NGFS missions show that the Agerholm was located offshore in Corps Area 2 and not in the Rung Sat Special Zone or the Mekong Delta area.
The deck logs are also available for the 1971 Westpac gunfire missions under the Photo Gallery menu.
Neither the deck logs or the cruise book show that the Agerholm ever moored in Da Nang in 1970. If you know the approximate date, we can request the deck logs for those dates.
Greetings, my brother, James Daniel Mason, served on the Agerholm sometime between 1969 and 1975. He is now in the Alzheimer’s ward of Indiana Veterans Home. On occasion old photographs will cause him to have moments of lucidity.
If any of you have photos of that time period you would be willing share please contact me at sd_angry_man@yahoo.com. The times when he can remember even bits of his life is a great joy to my 88 year old mother.
Lee, there are many photos on the website from 1969 to 1975. We have the 1969 and 1970 cruise books and many shipmate submitted photos from the time your brother served on the Agerholm. Just search in Photo Galleries to find photos from that time period. You should be able to print the photos to your printer. Good luck to your brother and our fellow shipmate.
It is with a great deal of sadness to inform the shipmates of the Agerholm that James D Mason passed away. 29 December 2016. Please take a moment to remember a sailor, father, brother and good man.
I was aboard Agerholm 1966 – 68. I was wondering if anybody recalls while in Pearl Harbor on our way to Westpac, the ship being rammed by another ship that had been tied up behind us. I remember the ship that did the ramming was also deploying to Westpac. They did enough damage that the ship had to go into dry dock in Yokosuka. If anybody remembers this do you recall the name or hull numbers of the ship
Found this photo among my father’s possessions. John C. Turley. Although I don’t believe my father served aboard this ship I am curious as to the year and location of this photo. Should anyone recognize this please let me know. Regards, David Turley davidt216@gmail.com

Thanks for your inquiry regarding John C. Turley. After checking all our records (Membership Roster, Memorial Listing, Plank Owners) I find no reference to Mr. Turley having served aboard the USS Agerholm DD826..

Thank you for the reply. I could not find him in the picture I uploaded to your USS Agerholm site. Did you happen to see that photo and could you identify the year and location at all? Just wondering why my father would have had this in his possession.
Fond memories Sept 58 to July 63. When forming a new AMVETS Post three years ago they asked for a post number for the new Post- 826 was the number I used and Photos of Aggie adorn the walls of the meeting room. Hudson Valley AMVETS Post has a Facebook page- check it out. Nice job on the web site. From Seaman apprentice to RD1- Retired OSCS
I had the privilege to serve aboard the USS Agerholm from 1970 to February 1974.
Worked as a MM both Eng rooms. I miss those days. Just wondering if anyone from the same time frame is still out there.

James,
Sorry it took me so long to find your note and then respond.
If you want to join our association, it is only $10.00/ year. Send a check to USS Agerholm DD826 Association, 1813 Shirlane Pl. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112 and I will forward information about our annual reunions and a roster of our currently active members (i.e. paid up within the last 3 years).
There are several sailors on that list who served within the time frame you mentioned, a couple of whom will be at this year’s reunion.
Best regards,
Stan Hafenfeld, Sec’y./Treasurer, USS Agerholm DD826 Association
Ronald Edward Trost, 81, resident of Oroville, California, passed peacefully March 20, 2015. A proud American, Ron volunteered his service to the United States Navy, from 1951 to 1955. He proudly served on the U.S.S. Agerholm during the Korean War.
I am Ron’s son in law. I was asked to pass Ron’s passing to his shipmates. He was exceptionally proud of his time in the Navy and his time on the U.S.S. Agerholm. He is missed!
I was a radioman on board while patrolling the tokin gulf and was involved in messaging the necessary brass about enemy torpedo boats approaching, we took evasive actions and were told to fire on targets and did which eliminated the danger. I never hear the agerholm mentioned in this action only the Maddox, I wonder to this day why/.anybody have an answer? art this day of aug 1 is the anniversary.
Information on reunion suppose to be sent this month. Check was sent and cashed. As of 6/25/15 have not received anything. Has info been mailed or are we not going to get?
Letters regarding the reunion will be sent out this month (June) to all members whose dues have been paid up within the past 3 years. Dues are still $10 per year.
For Mr. Guilmain: I am a researcher for http://www.navsource.org and I would like to ask you some questions regarding CO’s of the ship if you retain anything like change of command programs, of logbooks. Question 1: During FRAM i at MINS in 1960, there was a CO named Matthews, do you possibly have his full name ? Question 2: Was the last CO named Kenneth W. or Randolph Barry ? We have a complete list otherwise, and would be glad to share it with you. Thank You, for assisting us.
THE ONLY NAME I COME UP WITH IS LCDR. W.M.MATTHEW 1960-FEB.1961 NO WRITTEN FIRST NAME. I DON’T SHOW ANY BY THE NAME OF KENNETH W. OR RANDOLPH BARRY. I HAVE A CDR NAMED KENNETH A. BARRY, BUT DON’T THINK THAT IS THE ONE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.
SORRY IF I WASN’T MUCH HELP. I BASICALLY SEARCH OUT SHIPMATES FOR THE REUNIONS.
YOU MAY HAVE TO JUST ASK A GENERAL QUESTION ON HERE FOR OTHERS TO SEE THAT MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP YOU.
I am the older son of Villamor Suba, who served on the Agerholm during the late 60s and early 70s. I just found this site today and hoped that I could at least contribute a small update. My father died almost 40 years ago – May 31, 1975. We were stationed at NAS Atsugi, Japan at the time.
William,
Thanks for your inquiry. This year’s reunion will be in Pensacola, FL, October 17-20. More details will follow in June.

It’s best to call Don Baldwin to find out what’s happening to the reunion.
Letters regarding the reunion will be sent out this month (June) to all members whose dues have been paid up within the past 3 years. Dues are still $10 per year.
I would like information about the reunion.
i believe we served together.
Tucker , hope to see you and Raymond in OK City.Bless You both.
Yes John My wife and I will be at the reunion.
Believe his name was william mcgowen matthew. He was skipper when i reported aboard octobrr 1960
Lots of memories…especially the 1st night we hit Vietnam with ship to shore bombardments, and doing the S&R thing…intense. Gary Halsey Sr.
Good to see your on line. Hows your brother? Lots of memories on that ship.
Good website, great ship, fond memories from 1960-1964.
How can I purchase a copy of the cruise book for U.S.S. Agerholm DD826 for west pac 1962-1964
I am the older son of Villamor Suba, who served on the Agerholm during the late 60s and early 70s. I just found this site today and hoped that I could at least contribute a small update. My father died almost 40 years ago – May 31, 1975. We were stationed at NAS Atsugi, Japan at the time.
The new site is nice, but what happened to the memorial plaque? Would like to see it back on the page.
I like the new web site, good job all
she was a great ship & crew, very proud of her
Joe,
